The 7-acre landscape on the shore of Lake Michigan utilized Omni Infinity Media to increase rooting space for trees near hardscapes and manage stormwater runoff atop the bluff overlooking the shoreline.
For trees adjacent to hardscape, a subterranean geosynthetic structure is buried between newly-planted trees and hardscaping. The geogrid is filled with Omni Infinity Media and the entire assembly is topped with permeable pavers. This provides significantly more rooting space for the trees.
More than 90 trees were planted, including 30-foot-tall oak, birch, maple, pine, and beech trees, along with more than 70,000 understory plants. A one-acre native prairie was reintroduced to the property. Black locust, much harvested from the site, was used throughout the project, including for the permeable pavers in the courtyard.
