a garden lounge reestablishes expectations of the urban workspace

Located in Boston’s historic Financial District with views of the Seaport, this adaptive reuse of a century-old building reconceives the amenity roof as an extension of the workspace, enabling staff to work in nature, in the city.

In contrast to adjacent development, this biophilic adaptation repositions the amenity roof and serves as a differentiator within commercial real estate.

Programmed zones simultaneously accommodate the multifunctional needs of multiple tenants: a central space for team bonding; private “portals to the city” accommodate huddles.

An organic floor plan mitigates the limitations of the building’s wood structure while providing a more natural distribution of space.
