District House

illustrating the vast aesthetic, environmental, & financial benefits of green infrastructure integrations

District House is a 28-unit luxury condo building that prioritizes modern, sustainable urban living. Located in downtown Oak Park, Illinois, the project features several state-of-the-art and ecologically minded amenities including five Omni Green Roof private terraces for premium second-floor units.

Installed in 2018, District House includes an integration of meadow mix on the roof and seeded lawn on the terraces. Overall, the average depth is 6 inches with a total terrace and green roof area of 9,009 SF. The combined lush lawn space perfectly complements District House's luxury interiors and provides accessible private green space for residents.

District House is a stunning example of how Omni’s green infrastructure goes beyond aesthetics. The lush lawn spaces throughout the terraces uniquely complement the development’s luxury interiors and provide residents with private green space. The green roof provides a cooling effect to the surrounding area, providing a cooler experience for those enjoying the deck and terraces. Designed to create a life support system for a midwestern prairie rich in biodiversity, the rooftop also features a native meadow mix. A variety of native plants are incorporated into this mix which provides habitat for local pollinators. The roof is positioned to provide opportunities for pollination and food, nesting, nutrients, and more for local fauna.
