We are pleased to announce that the Legacy District proposal has been announced as a winner of Chicago’s INVEST South/West Bronzeville RFP.

The Legacy District development of vacant, city-owned land at 47th Street and Vincennes Avenue in historic Bronzeville is planned to construct a six-story building with 12,000 square feet of commercial space and 25 mixed-income residential units. Aside from housing and retail, the building will also include covered parking, and a green roof featuring communal roof gardens and a rooftop farm. With a goal of wealth building in the neighborhood, the project will create 174 permanent jobs and 140 temporary construction jobs. Community partners YWCA and DePaul University also plan to run a women of color entrepreneurship center on the site.

The project team includes Omni Workshop, VolumeOne Design Studio LLC together with Civic Projects Architecture (outreach), Landon Bone Baker (AOR), Seek Design (interiors), KMW Communities, Bronzeville Partners, LG Development Group, and MB TEAM.
