600 W Chicago

a corporate headquarters relocation driven by growth, sustainability, inclusivity & community investment

600W Chicago is the historic Montgomery Ward Catalog House located in the city’s River North neighborhood. After Chicago-based developer Sterling Bay purchased the masonry building in 2018, a design team was engaged to renovate the structure to ultimately improve the tenant experience. Additional goals for the renovation were to make the building and surrounding area more inviting and better activate its public plaza.

Omni Workshop served as landscape architect for the plaza and streetscape. The design better connects the new office and retail frontage with the adjacent streetscape. The design also includes modifications to the existing site walls, terraced plantings, and built-in wood bench seat walls.
