Celebrating World Landscape Architecture Month – “Growing Together”

April is World Landscape Architecture Month, a month-long international celebration of landscape architecture and designed public and private spaces. As we celebrate this year’s theme, Growing Together, we are happy share to Omni Workshop’s philosophy and how it aligns with ASLA’s core vision statement of “healthy, beautiful, and resilient places for all.”

“We are so proud to celebrate landscape architecture and the landscape architects at Omni! Our landscape architecture studio’s design philosophy is rooted in democratizing access to nature and both/and thinking and doing. Right on point with the theme of this year’s World Landscape Architecture Month: “growing together,” we believe that exceptional design should be accessible and imbued with nature. Our landscape architects focus towards sustainability, ecology, biology, resilience, and other related issues, as well as the social role/cultural role: the role of form, space, composition, and materials (the aesthetic dimension) of landscape design. We celebrate all landscape architects who work in the prose and the poetry.”

WE ARE A FORWARD-THINKING DESIGN STUDIO WHOSE WORK IS ROOTED IN A HOLISTIC, INNOVATIVE PHILOSOPHY

CONSTRUCTIBILITY, MAINTAINABILITY & SCIENCE Our design is informed by constructibility, maintainability, and science. Our multidisciplinary firm draws upon expertise from landscape architecture to microbiology, biology, ecology, soil science, horticulture, industrial design, construction, logistics, and landscape management. Our turnkey services and talent open a staid industry to a new level of innovation and improvement.

DEMOCRATIZE ACCESS TO NATURE We thrive on creating work in the public realm. We believe in the democratization of landscape, and we believe that exceptional design should be imbued with nature and open to all.

MAXIMIZE ENVIRONMENTAL PERFORMANCE We know how to create landscapes that add value as well as mitigate and adapt to climate change. We strive to maximize the environmental performance of our designs. This entails deploying landscape as a tool to manage stormwater, store carbon, serve as a safe barrier to underlying contamination, and to manage wind. We design beautiful, functional landscapes that serve as elegant solutions to environmental challenges.

DESIGN FOR IMPLEMENTATION, RATHER THAN THEORY We aim to see our work built, where our designs and solutions create value for projects and the community.

BOTH/AND We focus on sustainability, ecology, biology, resilience, as well as the social and cultural roles of our work. We consider the role of form, space, composition, and materials — the aesthetic dimension — of landscape design. We strive to create balance between effective environmental performance and the ethical creation of beauty.
